Coffee and Walnut Coffee Cake Recipe

To make a classic coffee and walnut cake, you'll need:

  • 1 cup of strong coffee, cooled
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts

To start, preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour and baking powder. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the cooled coffee and mix until well combined. Slowly add the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Stir in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake the cake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

To serve, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar and serve it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. The bold flavor of coffee and the crunchy texture of the walnuts make this cake a truly irresistible dessert. Whether you're a coffee lover or just a fan of delicious treats, coffee and walnut cake is sure to be a hit.

Which coffee is the best to make Coffee and Walnut Cake?

When it comes to making coffee and walnut cake, it's best to use a strong and bold-flavored coffee. This will help to enhance the overall flavor of the cake and provide a rich and indulgent taste. Arabica beans are a good choice for making coffee and walnut cake, as they have a sweeter and more refined flavor.  Two strong and bold-flavoured coffee's are the Indonesian Sumatra Lintong Coffee and the Indonesian Old Brown Java Coffee.

If you prefer a more robust and full-bodied flavor, you can also use a blend of Arabica and Robusta beans. Just be sure to use freshly brewed coffee and allow it to cool before adding it to the cake batter.  Two examples of robust, full-bodied coffee's are The India Cherry Coffee or our Italian Blend

It's also a good idea to experiment with different types of coffee to find the one that best suits your taste preferences. Whether you prefer a light and floral coffee or a bold and spicy one, there is a variety of coffee beans to choose from. Just be sure to use a high-quality coffee to get the best flavor in your coffee and walnut cake.
